This kind of appointment is booked when the conservative management of problem nails is no longer working.

Local anaesthetic is injected into the toe and all or part of the nail is removed and the nail bed treated to ensure the removal is permanent.

This will be followed up with a review 2 days later and then a final review 5-7 days later. Dressings and written post-operative care will be provided. It should be noted that healing can take between 8-12 weeks and factors such as smoking and footwear can impact on the rate of healing.
